Review : La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo

In the month of January I have been absolutely loving this product! Effaclar duo is basically a spot treatment that aims to reduce the appearance of imperfections and reduce pore size. It's a serum that claims to be a complete solution to get clearer looking skin. There has been a blogger frenzy about this product over the last month so i was reluctant to also mention it (everyone is probably sick of hearing about it by now, including me) but it is such a wonderful product which has radically changed my skin that it would be rude not to dedicate a post to it.
I wouldn't say that i suffer from acne but i definitely have hormonal breakouts regularly with scars that stick around for an awfully long time. I've been using this product for almost three weeks and my skin has calmed down a lot! I've had no stubborn blemishes what so ever and I've noticed that it's even helped to reduce scaring over the short period of time I've been using it.
I use this product after cleansing my skin, and follow with a rich moisturiser as my skin is normal/ combination and not oily like the product is intended for. However I haven't found the product overly drying and makes a perfect base for make up as it is a mattifying serum.
I've never used this kind of product before, or a serum at all for that matter. To say that i have a simple skincare regime would be an understatement. But the results that this has shown have been overwhelming and has definitely inspired me to take a deeper interest to my skincare! I would highly recommend this product!

Things I've loved this month: Topshop Lipstick

Hello Guys!

So I've decided that at the end of every month I'm going to do a 'Things I've loved this month' post. I'm the kind of person that always experiments with beauty products and often switches brands. However, I am rarely wow'ed or absolutely love a product, so anything featured in these posts you'll know will be worth the splurge!

In the month of November i have been loving Topshop lipsticks. In the past I've never been bothered about looking at the make up in Topshop, but since my first lipstick purchase I've been hooked.

From left to right; Hazard, Firecracker and Innocent.

The First Topshop lipstick i brought was Firecracker; a deep burnt orange. I wasn't the biggest fan of the colour, as i was comparing it to my beloved Morange by MAC which is definitely a more 'wow' shade. However i do like how this colour really compliments the paleness of my skin. The aspect I was most impress with was the finish. All three the Topshop lipsticks I own are 'Velvet Moisturising Finish' and I LOVE it. I suffer from dry/ chapped lips all year round and no amount of Vaseline seems to do the trick, so usually I have trouble finding lipsticks that don't sit in the grooves of my lips or appear really flaky after a short period of time. This formula keeps my lips hydrated whilst the colour lasts.

Hazard. This lipstick looks much darker in the bullet than it transfers onto the lips, which at first I was disappointed with. I would describe the colour as a cranberry colour, it is a few fractions darker than the 'true red' shade. This lipstick is really long lasting and i think it would look particularly great on olive skin tones.

My favourite of all three lipsticks is the shade Innocent, which is so surprising as i never ever wear nudes! I have never found a nude lipstick that suits me as I am very pale and i feel they make me looked really washed out. Innocent contains just the right balance of nude and pink, the pink really helps to give my skin a healthy flushed appearance. The lipstick also has lilac undertones which makes it a slightly darker nude.

I hope you enjoyed the post, let me know if you think 'Things I've loved this month' is a good idea or not! See you soon, Alex

OOTD: Dark Side Of The Moon

                   Dress: Urban Outfitters
        Jacket: Topshop
      Socks: Primark
Bag: H&M

I picked up this dress from Urban Outfitters at the weekend and have fallen in love with it. It's a really feminine and elegant piece which i don't own many of, i particularly like the cut out at the back. I chose to style the dress with a parka style jacket and above the knee socks for a more grungy feel.

My lipstick is 107 from the Kate Moss Matte Collection (Rimmel London). My nail varnish is Nude Beige by Model's Own and the tips are Treasure by Topshop.

Also I've only just dyed my hair dark brown and am still not sure about it, let me know what you think! x
